SAFETY FEATURES

1. PRIMARY FEATURES

  • SUITABLE FOR CLASS A FIRES: Exclusively designed for tackling Class A fires, such as those involving wood, paper, cardboard, textiles, and various plastics.
  • EXTINGUISHING AGENT: The agent is plain water (sometimes with additives), which is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and leaves no harmful residues.
  • MECHANISM: It works by rapidly cooling the burning materials to below their ignition point, effectively stopping the fire and helping prevent re-ignition.
  • CAPACITY: Contains 9 liters of extinguishing agent, a common and effective capacity for commercial and domestic use.
  • SAFETY WARNING: It is critical not to use this extinguisher on Class B (flammable liquids), Class C (electrical equipment), or Class F (cooking oils) fires, as it can spread the fire or cause electrocution.

2. DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS

  • OPERATION: Generally features a user-friendly, stored-pressure design with a simple squeeze-grip operation and a pull-pin safety mechanism.
  • CONSTRUCTION: Typically built with durable, high-quality, corrosion-resistant materials, often featuring an epoxy powder-coated steel or stainless steel cylinder and a forged brass valve.
  • DISCHARGE PERFORMANCE:
    • Average Discharge Time: Varies by model, typically ranges from approximately 30 to 60 seconds.
    • Range of Throw: Can have a throw range of around 6 meters.
  • MAINTENANCE: Easy to maintain, service, and rechargeable.
  • ACCESSORIES: Usually supplied with a wall-mounting bracket for easy storage and access.
  • APPROVALS: Generally manufactured and certified to national and international standards (e.g., BS EN3, CE marked, AS/NZS 1841.2).

3. PROCEDURES OF USING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER

  1. PULL the pin. This unlocks the operating lever.
  2. AIM the nozzle or hose low, directly at the base of the fire, not the flames.
  3. SQUEEZE the lever slowly and evenly to release the extinguishing agent.
  4. SWEEP the nozzle from side to side, covering the base of the fire until it appears to be out.
These extinguishers are a popular choice for locations such as offices, schools, companies, and warehouses where the predominant fire risk is from solid combustibles.
