Description
SAFETY FEATURES
Foam fire extinguishers are versatile, forming a blanket that smothers Class A (solids) & B (liquids) fires by cutting off oxygen while cooling the fuel, featuring easy cleanup, low residue, and portability, making them great all-rounders for homes and offices, unlike corrosive powder types.
1. IMPORTANT FEATURES
- DUAL ACTION:Â Cools the fire (water base) and suffocates it (foam blanket).
- EFFECTIVE ON A & B FIRES:Â Great for ordinary combustibles (wood, paper) and flammable liquids (petrol, oil).
- AQUEOUS FILM-FORMING FOAM (AFFF):Â Creates a film that floats on liquids, sealing in vapors.
- LOW RESIDUE:Â Leaves minimal, non-corrosive, easy-to-clean residue compared to powder.
- PORTABLE & AFFORDABLE:Â Common sizes (2L, 6L, 9L) and simple to maintain.
- VISUAL CUE:Â Cream-colored body for identification.Â
2. HOW THEY WORK (MECHANISM)
- SPRAYS FOAM:Â A pressurized water/foam concentrate mix is sprayed.
- FORMS BLANKET:Â The foam spreads over the fire, creating a barrier.
- CUTS OXYGEN:Â This blanket blocks air (oxygen) from reaching the fuel.
- COOLS FUEL:Â The water content lowers the temperature of the burning material.Â
3. HOW TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER
- PULLÂ the pin. This unlocks the operating lever.
- AIMÂ the nozzle or hose low, directly at the base of the fire, not the flames.
- SQUEEZEÂ the lever slowly and evenly to release the extinguishing agent.
- SWEEPÂ the nozzle from side to side, covering the base of the fire until it appears to be out.Â
